At The Poona Club Ltd, the tennis courts were originally located where the Cinema Hall stands today before being shifted to their present location. The early grass courts eventually gave way to sand courts, and today the Club proudly offers excellent floodlit synthetic and sand courts that support both recreational and competitive play. For many years, a modest pavilion built using British railway lines as columns served players and spectators alike — a charming reminder of the Club’s colonial heritage. This was later replaced by a modern pavilion in 2012.
The Poona Club Ltd has hosted numerous prestigious ITF tournaments and has nurtured players who have represented India on the international stage. The Club’s proud tennis legacy includes distinguished names whose presence continues to inspire generations of players within the Club community.
Set in the heart of the Club amidst lush greenery and towering trees, the tennis courts offer an experience that is both energetic and elegant. The ambience — complete with attentive service, traditional club culture, and beautifully maintained surroundings — creates a distinctive atmosphere that feels timeless and refined.
